Pitch practice apps for founders: an honest 2026 comparison

By the Sharkproofed team · Every fact checked against live product pages and App Store listings on July 31, 2026 · Sharkproofed is our app, and this page says openly where competitors beat it

The short answer: as of July 2026, none of the nine apps in this comparison except Sharkproofed combines all three of: camera video analysis of you, questions generated from your own recorded pitch, and answering those questions on camera under pressure. If you want daily speech lessons, pick Speeko or Orai instead. If you want free text-based investor Q&A in a browser, pick PitchLab. If you want video body-language analysis without any Q&A, PitchPerfect does that.

How we compared them

We checked each product's own website and live App Store listing on July 31, 2026, and recorded five things: platform, whether it analyzes camera video of you, where its questions come from (your own pitch, a generic bank or persona, or no questions at all), whether it has anything investor-specific, and entry pricing. Every cell traces to the product's own pages. Where we could not verify a claim from a live page, the cell says so instead of guessing. And because Sharkproofed is our product, the section on where it falls short is not small print.

Ratings context, same date: Speeko 4.7 (4,573 ratings), PatterAI 4.4 (4,826), Orai 4.6 (3,620). PitchPerfect and UPitch are new 2026 releases with 0 and 3 ratings. Sharkproofed is in beta and has no public ratings yet. Orai's site and App Store list different prices; we cite the site.

The honest picks, by job

  • You have an investor meeting on the calendar and want to rehearse the whole moment, questions included: that is Sharkproofed, and it is the only one built for exactly that. Record a 90-second pitch, face three questions generated from what you actually said, answer on camera, get a survival score and one fix. It is also in free early access, so the honest caveat is that you are early.
  • You want to improve as a speaker over months, with lessons and streaks: Speeko or Orai. Mature apps, thousands of ratings, structured curricula. We do not do courses.
  • You want free investor Q&A practice in a browser right now: PitchLab's free tier gives five-minute text sessions with no session cap. No camera, no delivery feedback, but the questions are real practice.
  • You want body-language video analysis of a full presentation: PitchPerfect analyzes camera video with timestamped feedback. It asks you nothing afterward, which is the half it is missing for fundraising prep.
  • Your sales team needs roleplay training at scale: Yoodli. It has pivoted hard to enterprise enablement, which is precisely why it is no longer the obvious pick for a solo founder before a meeting.

The gap in the market, stated plainly

Split the field by two questions. Does the app see you on camera? And does it come back at you with questions? The speech coaches (Speeko, Orai, PatterAI, UPitch) analyze delivery but never ask you anything. The investor simulators (VC Mirror, PitchLab) ask questions but never see you. PitchPerfect sees you and stays silent. Yoodli does roleplay with an optional webcam but shows no investor persona and sells to sales teams.

Fundraising prep needs both halves at once, because the questions after the pitch are where funding is decided, and because delivery under pressure is a different skill from delivery into a mirror. That intersection, camera plus questions from your own pitch plus answering under pressure, is the drill Sharkproofed was built around, and as of July 2026 no other app on this list occupies it.

Where Sharkproofed falls short today

Since this is our comparison, here is the other side of the table:

  • iOS only. No Android, no web app. Orai covers all three; the web tools run anywhere.
  • New and unrated. We are in beta. Speeko, Orai and PatterAI have years of ratings and polish.
  • No lessons or curriculum. Sharkproofed is a five-minute drill you run before meetings, on purpose. If you want a course, pick one of the coaches above.
  • No custom investor personas. PitchLab and VC Mirror let you describe the exact investor you are meeting. Our panel is three fixed archetypes.
  • No team or program features yet. Yoodli and VC Mirror sell cohort and team tiers today.

Whichever app you pick, practice the right thing

A tool only helps if the method is right: rehearse on camera, take hard questions mid-flow instead of reciting to a mirror, and fix one thing per take. The full five-session method, with the pressure research behind it, is in our investor pitch practice protocol. And for what to say in the first place, the 90-second pitch guide covers structure, word budget and an example script.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best pitch practice app for founders?

It depends on the job. For rehearsing a specific investor meeting with questions and camera feedback, Sharkproofed is the only app that does both. For long-term speech improvement with lessons, Speeko and Orai are the mature picks. For free browser-based investor Q&A, PitchLab.

Is there a free app to practice an investor pitch?

Yes. UPitch is fully free today for 30-second delivery reps, PitchLab's free tier gives uncapped five-minute text sessions with AI investors, and Sharkproofed's early access beta is free while it lasts.

Do any pitch practice apps analyze video of you?

Two of the nine we checked: PitchPerfect (video body-language analysis, no questions) and Sharkproofed (video analysis plus questions generated from your pitch). Yoodli supports an optional webcam in its roleplays. The rest are audio or text only.

What happened to Yoodli's founder focus?

Yoodli now sells primarily to enterprises for sales enablement and manager training, and its free tier is limited to five lifetime sessions. It remains a capable web roleplay tool, but its pages show no dedicated investor-pitch persona.

Why should we trust a comparison written by one of the apps in it?

Check it. Every cell links to the product's own live page or App Store listing, the check date is stated, and the section on where Sharkproofed loses (no Android, no web, no courses, no custom personas, new and unrated) is in the body of the page, not a footnote.
